Dr. Salma Al-Musharafi is the Dean of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Sultanate of Oman. She completed her Ph.D. holder from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, the UK in the field of Inorganic Chemistry. As a recognition of her excellent academic performance in postgraduation, the university recommended extending it as Ph.D. She played a leading role in the establishment and development of the Applied Biotechnology Department at Sur College of Applied Sciences, Oman. She has chaired and presented invited talks at national and international conferences. She is the head of the governance and management committee in the merging process of UTAS. Dr. Salma has published 27 referred full-text publications, 3 book chapters, and 14 conference abstracts. Her research papers focused on the microbial penetration eggs and the investigation of heavy metal contamination in turtle eggshells and its effect on the structure. She is a research enthusiast who actively encourages the staff and the students alike to participate in research activities.

Dr. Ramkumar Lakshminarayan is presently working as Asst. Dean of Academic Affairs and Scientific Research at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Sur. He is also the Chair of IEEE – Oman Computer Society. His specialization is Database, Software Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence. He has over 20 years of experience in teaching, consultation, and software development. He has worked with leading academic institutions in India and at the Higher College of Technology, Oman. He has delivered training programs for leading corporate companies in India and abroad in the field of Database, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Mobile Application Development, and Software Project Management. Dr. Ramkumar has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals of national and international repute. He is a Free and Open-Source Software enthusiast and is presently working on Cloud Computing and Deep Learning Research Projects.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Brashdi is the Assistant Dean for Academic Support Affairs and an Assistant Professor in Information Technology at UTAS-Sur. He completed his Ph.D. in computer science in 2019 from the University of Southampton - UK. His research work and interest are in the fields of software engineering, formal methods, and database systems.

Dr. Sreenath Chandran is an Assistant Professor in Applied Biotechnology and Head of Scientific Research Department at UTAS-Sur. He holds a doctoral degree in Biomedical Sciences from the National University of Ireland – Galway, Ireland. He has co-authored several research articles in peer-reviewed journals of international repute in the fields of bioinformatics, functional genomics, transcriptomics, and comparative genomics. Dr. Chandran’s research interests include functional genomics and transcriptomics, high throughput gene expression and sequence analysis, and computational data analysis.

Dr. Hamid Iqbal Tak is presently the Head and Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Biotechnology at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences. He completed his Ph.D. in 2010 and was awarded Post-Doctoral Fellowship in North-West University, South Africa. Dr. Hamid also has been awarded Freestanding Post-Doctoral Fellowship for the year 2013 by National Research Foundation (NRF) South Africa. His research focuses on environment-related issues like “Microbes assisted Phytoremediation”. Dr. Hamid has published more than 15 research articles in various journals of international repute and several book chapters. Recently he was awarded “Fellow of Academy of Environmental Biology” 2020 (FAEB).

Dr. Gaurav Bhatia is Head of the IT Department and Assistant Professor at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences – Sur. He has more than 15 years of experience in teaching computer science with a specialization in computer networks and security. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Networks, MCA, BCA, DAC (CDAC), Certified Cloud Practitioner (AWS), CCNA (Cisco), MCP (Microsoft) certifications. He published a book on ‘Adhoc Networks’ and many research papers in journals and ACM, Springer, IEEE conferences. He is Associate Editor of IEEE Access Journal and scored grant for TRC - FURAP project as well as MoHE Research Fund project. His research interests include Machine Learning, Blockchain, SDN, MANET, and Network Security.

Mr. Sultan Al-Saraai is the head of the Mass Communication Department in UTAS-Sur. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Nizwa College of Applied Sciences, majoring in Public Relations, and a master’s degree in Public Relations and Advertising from New South Wales University, Australia. Mr. Sultan is working as a correspondent for Oman TV English News Bulletin since 2014.

Dr. Senthilraj Swaminathan completed his Ph.D. in 2008 with a specialization in Graph Theory in Mathematical Sciences. Currently working as an Assistant professor in Mathematics and Head of General Requirement Department, UTAS-Sur. He is a Course Coordinator of Mathematics for Applied Biotechnology and a General Coordinator for Mathematics courses in UTAS(CAS). He has published several peer-reviewed research papers in journals of national and international repute and presented many research articles at Conferences.

Dr. Senthil Kumar Subbaiah is presently working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Applied Biotechnology, University of Technology and Applied Sciences – Sur, Oman. His background is marine biotechnology. He has been awarded a post-doctoral fellowship at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB, CSIR, Hyderabad), by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT, India), and DANIDA, Denmark awarded JRF and SRF leading to Ph.D. His 17 years of experience (research, teaching, and industry) includes various programs, contributions, and participation in different events for diverse fields of study. He also acted as external examiner for 3 Ph.D. students from Anna University & Madras University. He has published more than 30 research papers in national and international scientific journals, participated and delivered invited talks at scientific conferences, workshops, and meetings. Dr. Kumar has more than 9 years of teaching experience in India and Oman, completed two projects, and the other two projects are currently running and funded by The Research Council, Oman.

Dr. Alhamza Munther is an Assistant Professor in the IT Department, Head of IT security major, University of Technology and Applied Sciences- Sur, Sultanate of Oman. He received his B.Sc. in computer and software engineering from the University of Technology in 2003, Baghdad. He received a master s degree in advanced computer networks from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 2012, and in March 2017 he was rewarded a Ph.D. in computer engineering from Universiti Malaysia Perlis, Malaysia. He published many articles in different research areas as attack detection, data mining, machine learning, traffic engineering, overlay networks, and multimedia distribution.

Dr. Toufiq Al-Gheilani is an Assistant Professor in the University of Technology and Applied Sciences – Sur at the General Requirement Department. He has a Ph.D. in Statistics from The University of Newcastle, Australia. Dr. Al Gheilani s expertise covers applied statistics and methods of teaching mathematics.

Mr. Naveen Kumar Mishra is an Erasmus Mundus scholar with a double master’s degree and ten years of teaching and research experience in Mass Communication/Media studies. He has experience in peer reviewing and conducting research in pure and interdisciplinary communication studies with a handful of articles published in double-blind peer-reviewed journals. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. from the University of Vienna, Austria.

Mr. Koketso Sepua is a Bachelor of Applied Linguistics holder with over 7yrs teaching in higher education institutions in South Africa and the Middle East. His current research interests are in learner motivation in language acquisition and interdisciplinary research.
